NCCPPA President Louis Wilson
Louis Wilson, elected NCCPPA President in June 2025, brings extensive leadership experience from the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference Maintenance of Way Employees Division (TCRC MWED). He served as TCRC MWED President (2015-2016) and Secretary-Treasurer (2006-2014), and held roles as Director at Large, specializing in collective bargaining, health and safety, and dispute resolution. Currently, Louis consults for labour organizations, leveraging his expertise in labour relations. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources and Labour Relations from Athabasca University in 2022 and continues advanced studies in the field.
Committed to advocating for CP pensioners, Louis aims to strengthen NCCPPA through enhanced union collaboration, membership growth, and pension advocacy, ensuring retirees’ voices are heard.

2025 CPKC Holiday Train
The 2025 CPKC Holiday Train raised a record $2 million and collected more than 175,000 pounds of food.
The Holiday Train ran from Nov. 19 to Dec. 21 for its 27th year of spreading holiday cheer and raising money, food and awareness for people struggling with food insecurity.

Retired from CPKC on September 1, 2025.
Tom Pidborchynski, who retired in September 1990, will celebrate his 100th birthday on November 22, 2025. A pipe fitter by trade, Tom often reflects on his 28 years of dedicated service with CPR. He remains deeply grateful for the pension and benefits he continues to enjoy, both during his working years and into retirement.

With the outbreak of World War II, the entire CPR network was again at the disposal of the Allied war effort. On land, the CPR moved 307 million tons of freight and 86 million passengers; including 150,000 soldiers, nearly 130,000 army and air force re-patriots, and thousands of sailors.
At sea, 22 CPR ships went to war with 12 of them being sunk, including the CPR’s largest passenger ship ever, which was almost as big as the Titanic — the Empress of Britain II.
In the air, the CPR pioneered the “Atlantic Bridge” – the transatlantic ferrying of bombers to Britain. The CPR set up pilot training schools and opened Canada’s strategic far north, creating Canadian Pacific Air Lines in 1942.

From the outset of war the CPR put the entire resources of the company at the British Empire’s disposal. This during the CPR’s heyday, when the railway was much more than just a railway. Not only were the railway’s trains and tracks at the British Empire’s disposal, but also its ships, shops, hotels, telegraphs, and, above all, its people.
Aiding the war effort meant transporting and billeting troops, building and supplying arms and munitions; arming, lending and selling ships.
